Reflexology

Reflexology
Reflexology, is a non-intrusive therapy based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower legs, hands and face correspond with different areas of the body. By applying pressure to specific points, it can aid relaxation and promote healing.

Reflexology is over 5,000 years old and has origins in China and Egypt, where pressure therapies were recognised to have therapeutic benefits and more importantly, help prevent disease. The oldest evidence of Reflexology is a wall painting in the tomb of an Egyptian physician ‘Ankmahor’ at Saqqara, dated around 2500-2300 BC. The wonderful art of reflex therapy was not introduced to the Western World until the twentieth century when the Americans began to develop zone therapy, which had been practised by the Europeans as far back as the fourteenth century, into Reflexology as we know it today.

Reflexology is usually performed on a massage couch for maximum comfort as it is very normal to fall asleep or be in a very profound relaxed state. The client remains fully clothed, only  the shoes and socks will need to be removed. Lose clothing is advisable as not only the feet will be worked on but also the lower legs.

The session starts with a massage of both feet and legs, followed by the Reflexology routine and ends with a balancing routine/massage. Treatments are specific to every individual, for the best outcome possible.
